Things To Do This Memorial Day

If you didn't already know, Memorial Day will take place on May 31st this year! Memorial Day is a United States holiday meant to honor the men and women who have died while serving in the US Armed Forces. On this day, many Americans visit cemeteries or memorials and have family gatherings or host parades.

Here are some activities that you can enjoy this year to make the most out of the holiday! Also, don't forget to check out the summer hacks we mentioned in our last blog post that will totally come in hand this Memorial Day.

Memorial Day Concert

PBS hosts a Memorial Day Concert on the Sunday before Memorial Day. This year it'll air on Sunday, May 30, at 8 p.m. and feature live performances and tributes. Make it an event by inviting some friends and family over and hosting a dinner!

Experience a Memorial Day Parade

You have to attend a parade at least once... they are so much fun! With Covid-19 restrictions slowly being lifted, check to see if your local community will be hosting a parade and how you can get involved. There is something so special about seeing marching bands and cheering on veterans on a nice hot summer's day!

Write Letters to Soldiers' Families

This one is especially sweet if you have children! They might have a day off school, but it serves as a nice activity to remind them why. Have them write handwritten letters to active soldiers and veterans to thank them for their service. Then drop them off at A Million Thanks location to have them delivered to military families.
